My soul was dramatically moved by the documentary, “The Biggest Little Farm,” which I saw recently. In case you haven’t yet seen it, I won’t reveal specific details here. I will say only that the film provides an in-depth look at one couple’s experience in running an organic farm, the challenges and victories that came to them, their journey with the continuous cycle of life and death and life and death.
When I reflect on John and Molly’s farming process and the astonishing truths they opened themselves to learn, I am struck by the way their adventure mirrors the one each of us faces in daily life - the constant rhythm of change that endlessly flows around and within us.
For me, the core truth of the film is one that can benefit us so potently in our daily reality. That is, when change comes - whether it has to do with health, death, birth, money, relationship, politics - there’s always a way through. It takes courage and creativity and patience to watch and listen, to honor the next step that wants to be taken. It takes love and flexibility to remain present to where change wants to lead us.
I have no clear question to put forward in this post, simply an encouragement to take your time in responding to the transitions unfolding in your life. Embrace the gift of rebirth and renewal.
And, when you see it, let me know how you feel about “The Biggest Little Farm.” 😉
